"Making a Difference to the lives of disadvantaged young West Australians"

On Tuesday 30 July 2013 at the Duxton Hotel Perth, Make a Difference Foundation WA held their Inaugural Youth Mentor Scholarship Awards. Our Patron, Justin Langer presented Scholarship Certificates to young Jacob Noble (Ballet); Ben Ford (Modelling & Lifeskills) and Jaiden Worrall (Cricket) This was a celebration of three young disadvantaged West Australians who have shown great determination and belief in achieving their dreams and goals. We congratulate Jacob, Ben and Jaiden.

Make a Difference Foundation WA is now seeking applications for the second year of the Youth Mentor Scholarship Program. We encourage young disadvantaged West Australians with talent in their chosen field to apply. See 'Projects - Youth Mentor Scholarship Programme Charity Project 2013' to obtain an application form.

Wednesday 29 May 2013 Cobham Charity Dinner Featuring singer/songwriter - Helen Shanahan

Helen Shanahan is a 24-year-old singer/songwriter from Perth, whose songs ride the joys and sorrows of love and life. Helen's music is best described as contemporary folk/pop with a strong acoustic feel. Helen has been nominated in the Western Australian Music Industry 'Song of the Year' competition, and she has recently supported Australian group 'The Basement Birds', whose members include Kav Temperly (Eskimo Joe), Josh Pyke, Kevin Mitchell (Bob Evans) and Steve Parkin. She has also provided strong support to UK artist Passenger in 2010 and Matt Corby in 2011.

Make a Difference WA was delighted to have IC Frith & Associates as our Naming Rights Sponsor of our corporate charity cricket breakfast for the first time. Our thanks and appreciation to Mr Rick Purslowe, Managing Director and IC Frith & Associates. This annual charity event brought together the best of Australian Cricket and International Sport to entertain the WA Corporate Community but more importantly to raise invaluable funds for the foundation's latest charity project. This year's breakfast was once again held at the Duxton Hotel Perth, one of Perth's Premier Hotels and was hosted by our Patron Justin Langer and Michael Thomson, WIN/Channel 9 Perth's Sports Director. The foundation was delighted to have special guests Mike Young (Australia Cricket), Danny Green (World Champion Boxer) and WA's James Brayshaw (Channel 9 Footy Show) to thoroughly entertain our corporate guests. This year's event was another huge success for the foundation and raised much needed funds for our latest charity project to give support to Assistance Dogs Australia who provide and train assistance dogs for West Ausralians living with physical disabilities. We were delighted to have Elise Rechichi, WA Ambassador for Assistance Dogs Australia along with Craig Dodge and his Assistance Dog Yeltsin attend the breakfast to talk to our guests on the support from Make a Difference WA and how much an assistance dog adds to their independence and quality of life.

This was Make a Difference WA's third corporate ladies charity golf day held at Joondalup Golf Resort, WA's premier resort golf course and by far was the most successful to date. Make a Difference WA's third charity dinner hosted by Board Director Jessica Gethin, was another most enjoyable and very successful "evening under the stars at one of WA's best restaurants, Mosmans at Mosman Park to help put a sparkle into someone's life". This wonderful event brought together many corporate friends and supporters of the foundation to raise invaluable funds to support the foundation's latest charity project to give invaluable support to Assistance Dogs Australia to further train and provide Assistance or Companion dogs to West Australians living with physical disabilities and give them a better independent lifestyle. The Foundation was delighted to welcome our Patron Justin Langer and his wife Sue to this year's dinner along with Assistance Dogs CEO Richard Lord and Ambassador, Olympic Sailing Gold Medallist Elise Rechichi who very kindly brought along one of the Assistance Dogs in Training. Wedbesdat 7 November 2007 Make a Difference Foundation Charity Dinner
This inaugural charity dinner brought together a full house of corporate supporters, sponsors and friends of the foundation to one of Perth's top restaurants, The Oyster Bar Meads of Mosman Bay to raise funds for a very worthy cause. Everyone was absolutely delighted with the hospitality extended by Warren Mead. The evening was a tremendous success, everyone enjoying a top quality meal complimented with the Award Winning Wines from Wills Domain of Margaret River and entertained by the hugely talented female musical group, Bojeme.
